Yes, we chose it because it has 8 separate cores which allowed us to perform the parallel processing we needed to do.

OK, thanks. Being a newbie, I wasn´t aware of this…I guess I´d better stock up on components:-)

Another thing, is there any particular reason tha you didn´t use an Arduino controller for this project? I´m not familiar with the propeller chip, does it have some special advantages for this type of build?

That’s a 180 ohm resistor that goes in series with the LED. You always use a resistor in series with LEDs.
